About Me

Hi, I’m Leanne.

I’m a neurodivergent mum of three amazing children, all with EHCPs, and the founder of SEND Compass.

After experiencing first-hand the challenges my children faced in education, I trained in SEND law with IPSEA. That knowledge helped me secure the specialist educational provision my own children needed and inspired me to support other families navigating the SEND system.

Over the past few years, I have supported parents with EHC Needs Assessment applications, EHCP draft reviews, working documents, SEND Tribunal appeals, complaints, school issues and disability benefit applications, including DLA and PIP.

I understand how overwhelming the process can feel. Many parents are suddenly expected to understand complex SEND law, challenge Local Authority decisions and advocate for their child, often whilst managing their own family responsibilities and wellbeing.

My aim is to help parents feel informed, confident and supported. I believe that when families understand their rights and have access to clear information, they are in a much stronger position to secure the support their children need.

SEND Compass provides practical, accessible support for families across England. Whether you need help with an EHCP, SEND Tribunal appeal, working document or understanding professional reports, I aim to explain things clearly and in a way that works for you.

I also run the SEND Compass Facebook community, where I share free SEND resources, templates, guidance, visuals and information to help parents navigate the SEND process with confidence.
