SENDIST Refusal to Assess Appeal – Draft Review (Sense Check)
For parents who have prepared their own refusal to assess appeal and would like an experienced SEND advocate to review and strengthen their submission before sending it to the Tribunal.
What's included
Up to 3 hours of personalised review and support, including:
Review of your draft appeal
Reading your written submission to identify areas that could benefit from further detail, clarification or stronger arguments.
Supporting evidence review
Cross-referencing your appeal against relevant professional reports, diagnostic assessments and other supporting evidence to ensure important information has been included.
Optional call
An opportunity to discuss your appeal, ask questions and clarify any areas of concern, within the allocated review time.
Strengthening your submission
Improving wording, structure and clarity where needed, including suggested additions or amendments.
Relevant SEND law and case law
Incorporating relevant legal provisions and case law where appropriate to help strengthen the arguments supporting your appeal.
Once the review is complete, I will return your annotated draft so you can consider the suggested amendments before submitting your appeal.
Local authorities can refuse to carry out EHC needs assessments even where parents have provided substantial evidence of their child's special educational needs. While I cannot guarantee the outcome of your appeal, I will work to make your written submission as clear, persuasive and well-supported as possible, with the relevant legal threshold clearly addressed.
Please note: This is a review and amendment service for appeals you have already drafted. It does not include writing an appeal from scratch, submitting documents to the Tribunal, managing your appeal or representing you at a hearing. You remain responsible for reviewing the suggested changes and submitting your appeal and supporting evidence.
